‘Jigsaw’ linocut printing workshop
Learn how to make a two or three-colour linocut print using the jigsaw technique.
When I first started printmaking I used the jigsaw method to create multi-coloured prints. The jigsaw technique means that your design can be inked in multiple colours and printed in one go.
What you will learn
-
Understand how to create a simple two-colour jigsaw print.
-
Develop a clear understanding of the steps needed to plan, design and carve a successful print.
-
Hand burnish a print using SoftCut lino and oil-based inks.
-
Take home a print that you can frame.
-
During the day you will learn about the process, then carve and print your design.
There will be space and equipment for four ink colours. I will suggest using two tones of blue and two tones of green for the day. Other colours will be available if everyone in the group is happy with them.
During the morning you learn about materials and tools, cut and print a test print and then plan your
final design. In the afternoon you cut and print your chosen design.
