"I attended one of Michelle's beginner linocut workshops in her lovely home studio. Michelle is a really supportive and encouraging teacher who gives you the confidence to develop your design - even someone like me who can't draw! She makes everything seem straightforward and I came away feeling proud of the print I'd produced.

It's a small group and the workshop is well paced, so you always feel there is time for you to ask questions and get the help and advice you need. It was a really creative, relaxing and enjoyable day and Michelle creates a very welcoming atmosphere - the homemade cake helps too! I'd recommend her courses to anyone who would like to try out a new craft."

Michelle Hughes linocut print artist

About your teacher

Hello, I’m Michelle Hughes, a professional linocut artist in York, UK. I started lino printing on a shoestring, spending about £20 on beginner's lino tools and materials. Things snowballed from there! I now sell my original linocut prints through my online shop, galleries and events. Since 2017, I have taught over 650 students through my online courses and linocut workshops in my York studio.

"I loved the whole process of meeting new like-minded people. Michelle’s enthusiasm was infectious."

"Everything. Small friendly group. Plenty of 1:1 tuition. Learning techniques of lino cutting. Getting to grips with ink! Creating my own unique picture"

"The feeling of satisfaction with the finished product, guidance throughout each stage, relaxed atmosphere, working at your own pace, not rushed, expert advice."

“Michelle’s excellent way of explaining each stage. Producing more than one print and a chance to be creative again and the cake was great!"
