Linocut print workshops

"Thank you VERY much indeed Michelle for a wonderful day yesterday! I learnt so much and drove home buzzing with renewed enthusiasm and ideas. Your expertise and teaching methods are so positive and friendly and it was a total pleasure to be part of the class. I found the studio environment inspirational and a joy to be in. It was a lovely total experience, not forgetting tea, coffee and delicious cake!" Jenny

"I have always admired linocuts and prints, but never imagined I could make one (as a not-particularly arty person). How wrong I was!

Michelle is a skilled, encouraging and patient teacher, and helped me to learn the various techniques. After a few hours of calm, focused practice and a generous slice of cake in her sunny studio, I came away with a gorgeous print of my own that I treasure." Natalie

"Michelle is so knowledgeable, organised, enthusiastic, and patient. I really enjoyed her workshop where we had lots of 1:1 help, all the equipment we needed in a lovely attractive space. The group was small and friendly. All in all a great experience. Thanks Michelle." Terry

"Having bought some of Michelle’s linocut prints at an Open studio event, I had often wondered how they were made, and wanted to have a go myself. Michelle’s workshop was the perfect way to have a go in a relaxed way without worrying about getting it wrong. I’ve now bought my own tools and am practicing at home. It’s a very absorbing activity and Michelle is a good teacher." Hayley

"Amazing experience! I got the workshop as a present for my birthday and fully enjoyed it. Michelle is a very good teacher, her studio has everything you need and the results of a day's work (no matter how much you knew about linocut before) are great!" Antonia

"I did a one-day introduction to lino cutting course . It was superb. Just 4 of us and Michelle was a great tutor and so willing to share her experience . Strongly recommended." Mark

Online courses

"I found this course very helpful. Instructions were complete and clear, and the video meant I could see what she was talking about. The instructor was encouraging and made lino printing feel accessible rather than intimidating. Really inspiring!' Antonia

“I just finished watching your online intro to linocutting workshop. I’ve done a bit of it before but definitely learned some new tricks. Thank you for the considerable time and effort you put into this. I am hooked!” Jenny

“I have just finished your on-line course, AND THANK YOU! I have really enjoyed it. I’m already working on some linocut, and I have learned that it does not have to be perfect from the start! It has been an exciting course, easy-to-follow and some very good explanations in pictures and speech.”

"Very clear and inspiring! Can't wait to get going with some sketches and get carving! Iv'e been to a couple of workshops before but the tips and tricks of mark making will come in very handy! The colour palette you use and the inspiration from your garden makes me want to go around my own now for ideas!" Caroline

"Brilliant and very easy to follow: This is a great introduction to Linocut print. It’s very well-structured and easy to follow. It’s great to be able to go back over a section to revise it. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to learn something about linocut printing. The list of tools and resources is also very useful." Lynne

"Methodical and thorough: A methodical and thorough, step-by-step guide to basic lino printing. I picked up several really useful tips and ideas that's given me the impetus to look at Michelle's next online course and her face to face classes too." Peter

"I have always wanted to learn how to linocut but didn’t know where to start. This course has given me all the basic steps to begin but also inspired me with ideas of how to mark make in order to progress designs. Very clear and concise, I also loved that I can pause the content or slow it down to really study technique. Thank you Michelle." Emma

"The course is very well put together . Perfect for a beginner like me . You can go back and recap at your own pace. I am making good progress and have great advice from Michelle about best suppliers. It’s a fascinating process and I’m smitten." Julie

"Inspiring. I have been wanting to do some linocut printing for a long time but have always been too nervous to make the leap as I was unsure of where to begin. This course was just the thing I needed; it has taught me all the basics, inspired me and I am now confident enough to start. Thank you Michelle."

"I found this a great introduction to lino printing. I am a rusher by nature so this was well structured to put me through all the basic steps and get a good understanding from the outset of what is possible at the beginner level. It's harder than it looks! Thanks to Michelle and I am looking forward to trying out some of my own designs. What attracted me to the course was Michelle's own work which I find inspiring." Mhairi

It was great fun and tied my brain in knots a few times, but your calm, methodical approach helped me to understand. I’m keen to do some more so I’m sure I’ll be referring back to the course many times! Thank you once again, it was a thoroughly enjoyable course." Julie

"I just wanted to say how much I have enjoyed reading and watching the multi block course. The resources are so well put together and thought through, thank you." Jen

"I wanted to learn how to do more than one colour and because I like Michelle's style of work I wanted to learn the process on how to print in that kind of style. I'm a visual learner and found the course easy to follow at my own pace at home and a good way to learn. If you do a day course you end up with lots of bits of paper, so the good thing about seeing it on screen means you can refer back to it. The course has lots of photos and written words to refer to what to do as well as videos. Before starting on my first design I spent three evenings reading through the content of the course and as I become more confident I can give the harder designs a go." Shirley
