Saturday 18 January 2025 - Introduction to linocut print workshop
Fabulous linocut prints from Saturday’s linocut workshop. 👏 Emma created a still-lifestyle print for her kitchen. I loved finding out that the picture on the wall was a print by Alan Coates, a member of the York Printmakers until he moved. Megan created a linocut print of her dream kitchen, complete with homemade sourdough! Steve craved a canned pilchards print, and Joanne used various mark-making techniques to create a botanical linocut print.
“Detailed, engaging workshop on lino printing. It really teaches you everything.”
“Immersive and definitely worth doing! And Michelle is really supportive and helpful.”
“A good introduction. Informative and friendly.”
“Really good fun, I learnt a lot. You don’t have to have any prior experience. Michelle was a really good tutor, explaining everything very simply in stages and guiding you through the process.”

About the author
Michelle Hughes is a North Yorkshire landscape artist. Much of her work depicts the Yorkshire landscape and Yorkshire coast, including the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors.
Michelle loves exploring the British countryside by bike or on foot, camera in hand, capturing ideas for her next prints. Back in her garden studio, Michelle creates simple but stylised silhouettes based on her photographs and carves these shapes into lino. She hand prints with an etching press, using oil-based inks to create tonal blocks of colour.
Michelle’s original linocut prints are limited editions.
