General workshop information
-
Pre-course details: I will send pre-course details 2 weeks before the workshop date.
-
Dietary requirements for homemade cake: I offer gluten-free cakes using gluten-free ingredients for those who prefer or request them. However, cross-contamination is possible because these cakes are made in my home kitchen, which is not a dedicated gluten-free environment. Therefore, I cannot guarantee that the cakes are 100% gluten-free. These cakes are unsuitable for individuals with celiac disease, gluten intolerance, or any other severe allergies or health conditions related to gluten or other ingredients. I am not insured to cater for such health requirements.
-
Suitable clothing: I use oil-based inks, which will stain clothing. Please wear old clothes. Aprons will be provided.
-
Workshop location: Workshops will be held in my studio in Holgate, York. There is free on-street parking. Please be considerate of neighbours when parking. Bikes can be stored securely in my carport.
-
Arrival time: You are welcome to arrive up to 20 minutes before the workshop starts to settle in. The workshop will start at the advertised time.
-
Workshops Covid-19 precautions: We will be working close to each other throughout the day. Please be thoughtful of other participants. Please don't participate in the workshop if you have tested positive for Covid-19 or have any symptoms.
Do you teach children?
Unfortunately, I am only teaching workshops for adults over 16 due to the use of sharp tools.

Colours
-
Linocut printing is a handmade process, and variations in colour and detail will occur. This adds to the individuality of each print.
-
Original prints are scanned and digitised or photographed. I do my utmost to ensure these reflect the colours in the original print. While every effort has been made to show items accurately on our website, slight colour variations may occur. Colour variations may also depend on the calibration and settings of individual computer screens.
Ink and print lightfastness
-
The oil-based inks I use for original prints are highly colourfast. However, I recommend keeping the prints out of direct sunlight or framing them with UV-protective glass to preserve longevity. For more details on ink durability, please refer to the Hawthorn Printmaker Supplies website.
-
A commercial printer digitally prints my greeting cards. While the quality is high, please note that these prints may fade over time, particularly if exposed to light.
Sizes
All measurements quoted are approximate.
GIFT VOUCHERS
Gift vouchers purchased from Michelle Hughes Design can be redeemed for in-person workshops in my studio, linocut prints, and cards. They can not be used for my online courses, as a third party hosts them.
